Application & Referral
Fee Agreement
There are two methods of providing us with your family information.
You can fill out the online application and email it back, or, you
can provide us with your job information via phone.
Please be clear about the work days, hours, duties and start date.
Once we have your information, we will email or fax you our Agency
Referral Fee Agreement. If you choose to work with us, please read
it carefully, sign it and fax or mail it back. This Agreement does
not obligate you to work with us; it merely tells us that you agree
to our terms and conditions. Applicant Search
& Interviewing Process
Once we have received a signed copy of the contract, and your application
fee (if applicable) we will begin the search for your domestic employee.
You will be speaking with your placement counselor regularly. You
will receive resumes/and or applications. The number of candidates
whose paperwork you will receive depends upon the job description,
your location, and other variables. We do our utmost to send you
at least three viable applicants. Please let us know with whom you
wish to meet. Most interviews will occur in your home, unless we
are notified that you wish to meet elsewhere.
We will ask you for possible interview times. When the interview
date and time have been finalized with the applicant, we will call
you to confirm.
It is a good idea to have a list of questions to ask the candidate.
The candidate will also have questions. The average first interview
takes between 30 and 60 minutes. Please call us, ASAP, after this
interview. Feedback is essential in the search process.
The Second Interview and Job Offer
Once you find candidate about whom you feel strongly, we ask that
you proceed with a second interview. The agency will also schedule
this interview. Everyone in your family, pets included, should be
present. Or -- if you prefer -- Hometown Nannies+ will arrange for
a half-day working trial. In the latter case, please be aware that
the applicant must be paid for her/his work time. (The second interview
or half day trial is offered within three days of the first interview
only.)
Hometown Nannies+ is available both to families and to applicants
for job placement negotiation and follow up support if needed. We
have over 18 years of placement experience (starting in 1988) and
are available when necessary. (We can also provide referral information
regarding CPR classes, Household Employee Taxes and Nanny Health
Insurance, if applicable.)
Many families make the job offer themselves; others prefer that
we do it. If you prefer to make the offer yourself, please let us
know beforehand.
Once the candidate you have chosen accepts your job, the agency
fee is due. This one-time fee that will "reserve" your
hiree (we won't send her/him out on other interviews) and will allow
us time for outsourced background check: DMV, S.S. Verification,
Criminal, National Sex Offender & Criminal Data Base.
All childcare workers are asked to take a CPR class, within one
month of placement. Many choose to take this course prior to the
start date. We ask that you help us by following up with your hiree.
She/he will receive a certificate upon completion of a CPR class.
Salaries and Working Conditions
Salaries, in our area, are $15/hour and up for live out Nannies
and $18/hr. and up for live-out Housekeepers. Mother's helpers receive
$11 - $12/hour. Salaries for other domestic workers vary. Please
contact the office for information regarding the various positions.
Salaries range from $650/week and up for Live In Nannies & Housekeepers
(and Nanny-Housekeepers.)
Families should provide a private room and bath for their employee,
plus use of a car. Vacations and holidays should be discussed in
advance. In order to ensure positive communication and understanding,
Hometown Nannies+ offers a prototype of a written contract between
employer and employee, for all live-in jobs.
The pool of highly-qualified live-in candidates comprises only a
small fraction of the candidate labor pool. Live In Nannies &
Housekeepers are most viable for families that need 12 hour/day
coverage. Note: A family Confidentiality Agreement,
between employer and employee, is available upon request.
Thank you for choosing Hometown Nannies+. Our goal has always been
to make the search and hiring processes as pleasant, gentle, and
state-of-the-art as possible. We look forward to working with you!
